In Daughters of Nicnevin, Kinsella sets witchcraft and myth against the backdrop of the 1745 Jacobite uprising, as two women summon dark forces to protect their village. In Song of the Stag, Brown’s debut follows Cait as she leaves her rural home for the capital, where her loyalties are tested as she is drawn into a growing political conflict.
